Welcome to SKAMpede!

Victoria’s Premier Outdoor Performing Arts Festival “SKAMpede” returns for its 17th year! This year’s festival, running July 11-13, features 2 different tours, each with 5 different shows!

Tickets are Pay What You Can (Suggested price of $10) with shows running throughout the entire weekend!

SITE #1 - Isaac Rufus' "Fashioned Sound Body

  • Live performance combining music and dance through e-textiles that sense contact, creating feedback between sound and movement.

SITE #2 – iuvenis Productions' "Spin the Bottle"

  • Avery's high school party flops when only four show up, revealing secrets and awkward queer romance in this coming-of-age story.

SITE #3 – Alexandra Dodd's "And Thus the Wind Takes It"

  • Citizens brigade debates a new umbrella stand with colorful characters sharing strong opinions about this controversial outdoor venture.

SITE #4 – Plastik Chaskilla's "Uno, dos, trees" 

  • Three creatures create new life from death through planting, but unfamiliar beings struggle to adapt to their strange existence.

SITE #5 – Bragi Theatre's "Vorvox and Zorzox Visit Earth"

  • Alien newlyweds visit Earth as tourists, recruiting audiences to help them experience human life despite fundamentally misunderstanding it.

SITE #1 – Jenn Goodwin's "If I Should Stumble"

  • Movement installation exploring women's labour, overwhelm, and resilience through falling, performed to Tanya Tagaq's powerful song "Uja."

SITE #2 – Jennifer McLeish-Lewis' "Art Market"

  • Interactive music and dance performance from a Toyota Prius hatchback where audiences browse, haggle, and purchase exclusive macro-movements.

SITE #3 – The Clown Collective's "A lovely family picnic"

  • Clown named Sticky searches wild grass for someone special to share a picnic with, hoping sparks will fly.

SITE #4 – Vocal Components' "The Ballad of One-Eyed Mike" 

  • Two-part show featuring the Bard of Yukon's Victoria history and dramatic reading of his classic poem.

SITE #5 – Burger & Briggs' "The Two Body Problem" 

  • Improvised movement, dance, poetry exploring how body shapes words and words shape body using audience-shared memories.
