Hi 👋

We’re Simon Larocque & Jared Leary, the two-person team behind LampPost Victoria. We got the idea for LampPost when we both moved to Victoria and struggled to meet friends and build a new community. It can be a really difficult place to do it, but we also knew the city was brimming with amazing events that we could go to to meet people.

But it wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be. Finding events here means checking a ton of different sources and endlessly scrolling social media. We knew that events were too important as a social tool to let this be a barrier for Victoria residents.

And so we launched LampPost in February 2024 to bring all the local events together into one easy, fun 5-minute read - and the Victoria community responded. What started as a fun little project has quickly become a trusted and go-to source for event-goers in Victoria.

What We Do

We spend approximately 4-5 hours per issue doing the work so that our readers don’t have to - scanning social media and 19 other sources for events to bring them all into one place. Then we send it out in a newsletter that drops on Sundays and Thursdays with all the concerts, markets, pop-ups, and everything else going on in Victoria.
