Pronounced (na-ee-su / nice with Japanese flair) 🧗♀️🛍️
NAISSU is an upcycled material chalk bag brand made here in Victoria. A creative outlet turned passion project for Japanese-Canadian designer Rie (Ree-aye). The first chalk bag was made as a mother’s day activity, using an old rice bag and sweatpants found around the house. Years later, NAISSU is growing—creating different styles of bags from upcycled materials.
Rie’s intention is to foster community in the spaces she occupies and dreams of a more accessible, sustainable outdoors. She can be found at @naissu_chalkbags and is happy to share what she knows about sewing, climbing, or her millions of other hobbies.
NAISSU chalk bags can be found on Instagram or at Hanami Blossom Festival on March 24th in Fernwood.
Daycation Destination
Looking for something to do over the weekend? Explore the amazing world of insects, arachnids and their many-legged relatives in Downtown Victoria! A great activity that will get you feeling like a kid again!
Meet Peaches!
6 years old, blind, and cuddly as can be, Peaches loves going on (guided) walks, playing with other dogs, and relying on her other senses to explore her backyard!
Fully trained and well-behaved indoors, Peaches is ready for a patient owner that’s willing to take things at a slower pace. Visit the Victoria Humane Society to find more information on this sweetheart and see if adoption would be a good fit for you!
